Victorian women were nothing but the second-class citizens that slaved for men’s needs and desires, this resulted in women being viewed as a tool for making men’s lives more enjoyable and easier. As Barrett K. L. stated in her article – “a Victorian woman was a helpless creature needing the protection of strong men.”. (Kara L. Barrett, 2013). It was cruel to be a woman in this period, and that’s why despite still facing some hardship on everyday bases women must concede that they do experience much more equality and inclusion in the society nowadays. In this essay the author examines women’s place in Victorian society and if there was a way to gain respect from it. The research work identifies indifference for women of all social classes, women’s roles, and working conditions and describes women, who were deemed as successful.
