Extract

One of the most vigorously debated topics on Earth is the issue of climate change.
If we do it right, protecting the climate will yield not costs, but profits; not burdens, but benefits; not sacrifice, but a higher standard of living. There is a huge body of business evidence now showing that energy savings give better service at lower cost with higher profit. We have to tear down barriers to successful markets and we have to create incentives to enter them.
[Climate Protection For Fun & Profit]
Global warming is the most urgent issue of our time. Fossil fuel burning, industrial agriculture and forest destruction cause the climate to change by releasing billions of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Scientists predict that unless humans significantly reduce carbon emissions, sea levels will rise, and weather patterns will shift violently. Human-caused pollution has left our planet on the verge of a tipping point at which ecosystems will die and release massive amounts of CO2. If that happens, the changes to the climate could be irreversible, countless species will go extinct, and our economic and cultural way of life will be forever altered.
[“Curb Climate Change”]
Right now with issues like jobs, the economy and rising energy costs on everyone's mind, it's sometimes tough to take a minute to think about global warming--even though it's a problem that will affect all of us. But the fact is that the solutions to global warming are also the solutions that will help boost our economy and create good jobs at the same time.
