The Circulatory System
The earthworm has a closed circulatory system. A dorsal blood vessel carries the red blood forward to the anterior end of the earthworm. The blood returns to the posterior end through a ventral blood vessel. Small thin vessels called capillaries connect the dorsal and ventral blood vessels. In the anterior end of the earthworm, five pairs of muscular tubes called aortic arches function as hearts. They pump the blood from the dorsal to the ventral vessels.
The Nervous System
The earthworms have several different sensory receptors. The receptors are located in the earthworms skin where they trigger sensory neurons. A central nervous system , that consists of a double nerve cord runs the length of the worms body. …
