The evidence given in this essay and the appendices has indeed suggested that current organisations have recognised the importance of KM as a competitive advantage, however these organisations have given very little away about their actual methods of creating and managing knowledge.
There is still reluctance in modern industry to release knowledge as it is thought of as a source of power and security, particularly in western industries. This reluctance in knowledge sharing has subsequently resulted in little understanding of the knowledge models and measures used by these organisations and back up the comments made by Nonaka (2000).
Whether organisations in the Western world like it or not knowledge management and sharing is imperative in order to survive in an increasingly global market however, at present the best form of understanding KM and sharing has come from various individuals who have researched KM methods in various organisations, rather than the organisations themselves.
