Management and Operations Management Theory Paper
This paper will describe how the different functions of management impact the operations management theory of an organization. The four functions of management are: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Included in the following paper will be: A description of the four management functions, A description of what the operations management theory is and will also explain how the four management functions impact the operations management theory.
Four Management Functions
Planning- Within an organization planning is the ongoing process of creating and obtaining the business' mission and objectives and also determining how these will be accomplished.
Organizing- To organize is to establish an internal organizational structure of the organization. In establishing this, the ideal is to focus on division, coordination, and control of tasks and the flow of information within the organization.
Leading- To lead in an organization is to influence people's behavior through motivation, communication, teamwork, leadership, and discipline.
Controlling- Controlling is steps that are followed that allow establishing performance standards based on the organizations objectives, the measurement and reporting these performances and what corrective or preventive action is taken as necessary.
