Conclusion:
Scientific management has become a somewhat derogatory term in management thinking, which has an exclusive focus on efficiency and complete management control, creating "unnecessary managerial dictation and discipline " (N. Slack 1998). To some extent this restrains the process that task is carried forward and employees' best effort. Furthermore, the restrictive practice leaves no scope for the individual worker to excel or think, failing to recognize the complexity of human behavior which is considered as the most powerful drive for the organizations' smooth proceeding.
The most detrimental aspect is the outdated methods based on scientific management, placing people at the disposal of stiff supervision and dull work. Scientific management takes people, in essence, as robots on the proverbial assembly line. We can safely draw the conclusion that designs based on the principles of scientific management -- with single standardization, powerful centralized bureaucracies, narrowly defined jobs and limited working motivation -- are hopelessly outdated.
Management is a philosophy rather than simply a theory.
