And the most important is that children should no longer have to suffer and they could have their childhood and good education to lift themselves out of poverty and they could be what they really want to be. And the last but not least is that ending illegal child labour would help the global economy. So if child labour exists somewhere, then it affects also other places, like Latvia, so it is also a global problem, not just regional.
Taking everything into account I got to know that instead of going to school and experiencing childhood, 215 million children around the world are involved in child labour - work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally harmful to children. From the total number of working children, 126 million are engaged in the worst forms of child labour. In my opinion that is not admissible and governments definitely need to do something about that. Latvia is a good example that doesn’t have this problem itself, but this is still a global issue. I think that children deserve normal childhood and possibility to choose their future.
