Torture is as old as mankind; some may say it is instinctive for one human to want to dominate another, but in modern day America and the world, this "instinct" is unacceptable. In times like these, of war and inconceivable brutality, America can help calm the madness by enacting powerful and durable anti-torture regulations; we can show the world that we are merciful and fair. A world that no longer looks to America as a moral compass, but as a mass of overfed and selfish individuals, could be partially healed and validated if America showed that we have an actual conscience, and we will not tolerate the mistreatment of the world's people. This is a simple way to improve America's image, but more importantly a way to rectify many injustices perpetrated against people of the world. We can do for our image, or we can do it for the good of the masses, either way, if torture becomes a thing of the past, the world will be a much better place.…
