Without assessing its effectiveness, however, it is not possible to know whether educational technology is helping students learn better or improving education. To make reasonable judgments about the impact of educational technology, teachers should have clearly set criteria for assessment. The decision to use educational technology should be based on the degree to which it supports the educational objectives and learning outcomes, not just its availability.
With a lot of parents understanding the many advantages of using technology in the classroom, there are probably just as many who disagree with the concept. Parents may have concerns that their children would lose their ability to relate to other human beings, they would become dependent on technology to learn or they will find inappropriate materials. Technology can be used inappropriately, but it has given students unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge, which makes it a great learning tool.
