I do not think that a TV is suppose to teach a child from the beginning about anything, I think that is the parents/caregivers job and then it may be helpful to allow the child to watch TV to understand what they have just learned, because there are many ways a situation can come about and there are many ways the situation can turn out. Sometimes the outcome will be good and sometimes the outcome will be bad and maybe sometimes TV can help a child distinguish the best way to handle the moment at hand.
These answers of course are not carved in stone and what I say I would do maybe a little different if I had children, so this is the best possible and most honest answer I think I could give.
