Interpersonal Behaviors of Substance Abusers

Much research still needs to be done in the area of social science research on the character of chaotic behavior change. Not much is known on why people who used to be a regular cannabis consumer now only engage in fine wines, but it is believed to be associated with the social network of the abusers. Also, research still needs a lot of information as to why adolescents start heavy drug use (most researchers believe that peers are the problem) and how this is associated to high risk activities. The research that has been gathered may not be representative of the whole substance abuse community because many of the participants in these studies responded to advertisements and/or were involved in a treatment process. Virtually no research has been conducted to determine whether there is an association between substance abuse and temperament makeup. Very few studies have followed teens from very early childhood through adolescence, and even fewer have explored the protective role of values in the context of families and peer affiliations.…
