My conclusion is that Baraba Tatars in common with the Chulym, the Crimean and the Lithuanian Tatars are endangered by the Russian language. Overall they are trying to renew the use of their mother language instead of Russian, but it is not enough with their endeavour, because the Russian language is more popular than Tatar languages. Michael E.Krauss definē languages as „safe” if children will probably be speaking them in 100 years; „endangered” if children probably will not be speaking them in 100 years. Example of Baraba Tatars shows that their language nowadays is endangered, and it is hard to prognosticate, what is going to happen to this language in 40 years, not even talking about 100.…
