The critical thinking process in my organization is totally absent in my perspective. The critical thinking and decision-making process exist only in theory. My work environment is structured by legalities, thus rendering managers in subjective roles. In an environment like mine, which is unionized, the rules and decision are already in place and are basically followed. The decisions that are formulated here on a local level, bears no significance of critical importance. In my observation the best example of critical thinking that I have observed seems to be cost reduction, which has negative results, and does not elevate the company's bottom line quantitatively or qualitatively.
It is interesting to know that it needs a critical eye and mind to often digest inconspicuous details that will help to sharpen our focus on details, and to observe important characteristics. All critical thinkers should know the difference between fact and opinion. We should bear in mind that fact is an objective that can be tested or checked; whilst an opinion is a subjective statement that expresses ones feelings or ideas. In business and decision making today, we must critically differentiate between fact and opinion (Workplace effectiveness-The Alliance for Employee Growth and development Inc., 1998-CD-ROM).
