3.2 The tone of the translation
Tone may be formal, informal, intimate, playful, serious, ironic, condescending, or many other possible attitudes. Each piece of literature has at least one theme, or central question about a topic and how the theme is approached within the work is known as the tone.
e.g. ‘’Funny way to get to a wizards’ school, the train. Magic carpets all got punctures, have they?’’ (Irony )
‘’Dīvaini, ka uz burvju skolu jābrauc ar vilcienu. Kas noticis — visiem burvju paklājiem sadurtas riepas, vai?’’

e.g. ‘’Well, there you are, boy. Platform nine- platform ten. Your platform should be somewhere in the middle, but they don’t seem to have built it yet, do they?’’ (Irony )
‘’Te nu tu esi, puikiņ. Platforma numur deviņi un platforma numur desmit. Tavai platformai laikam vajadzētu atrasties kaut kur starp abām, bet, šķiet, tā vēl nav uzbūvēta.’’

4. EVALUATION OF TRANSLATION
The translation of J. K. Rowling’s novel “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” has been done very successfully by I.Josts, who by all means has accomplished the task of the translation. As it can be seen throughout the whole book, the translator has maintained his style, which is of huge importance to the reader. The emphasis has been put on the meaning of text, not the text itself, which makes the translated book just as good as the original, and reading the translation pleasant and understandable.
