In a battlefield in Scotland, Macbeth met the three witches in the middle of a fog. His friend Banquo came with him. The witches said,
"All hail Macbeth, Thane of Glamis...All hail Macbeth, Thane of Cawdor....All hail
Macbeth, yet to be king!"
Banquo told them to tell his future as well. The witches said, "Less than Macbeth, yet greater...not so happy, yet much happier...you will be the father of kings, yet be none..."
The witches disappeared, and messengers from King Duncan came. The first prediction of the witches came true, and Macbeth have become the Thane of Cawdor.
