I would like to tell you about a book I have recently read and this time it is the dystopian novel 1984 written by George Orwell. In this book, the author has represented a not-so-pleasant and luckily fictional vision about the future where the only existing regime is totalitarian. The whole story takes place in the year 1984 in London, which is now a part of a fictional super-state called Oceania and focuses on one man – Winston Smith – who seems to be the only one who has the feeling that there is something terribly wrong with the world.
In my opinion, the main idea of the whole book is to show the importance and advantages of democracy and capitalism, no matter how useless they seem to be in our opinion. All of that is revealed through the life and thoughts of this one man – Winston Smith – who works for on of the ministries that control Oceania – The Ministry of Truth – and who is basically just a regular man, who, just like all the others, is constantly being watched by so called telescreens, who is told the same lie and who lives in the same miserable world as everyone else.…
