Lewis Carroll was born January 27, 1832. He was the eldest of eleven children born to a minister. From 1846 to 1850 he received an education at Rugby School. He graduated from Christ Church College Oxford in 1854. Carroll took Deacons orders in 1861, but was never ordained a priest. He believed preaching was difficult so he ascertained other interests.
Lewis Carroll was not born with the name Lewis Carroll. It became his pen name when he changed his birth name Charles Lutwidge Dodgeson into the Latin form of "Carolus Lodovicus," then simplifying it with Lewis Carroll. …
