Impact
The impact on a person or family that is grieving is difficult all by itself. Being put in a situation were the larger society doesn't give access to appropriate services can in my opinion prolong or prevent the grieving and loss process. If family members are not able to prepare their loved ones for death under their belief system they may encounter additional guilt or perhaps fear that the safe passage of their loved ones to the afterlife will be curtailed. The importance of cultural competency in regards to end of life issues is one of utmost importance in order to be efficient and effective.
