xxiv.9: It says here that Israel had 1, 300,000 swordsmen fighting in this one battle, 300,000 more than Judah. That's a bigger number than those on active duty in the United States! In 1Ch.xxi.5 it was an even larger number.
xxiv.13: God is still miffed about David conducting the census and offers him a choice of three punishments: seven years of famine (contradicting the three years of 1Ch.xxi.1), three months running away from his enemies, or a mere three days of plague. David, showing all the decisiveness one would expect from a man of ruthless action, can't make up his mind, so god chooses the third and kills 70,000 men. The Bible never shows any concern for the women and children who suffer, but it had to run to about 200,000.
xxiv.15: God sent a pestilence upon Israel killing 70,000 men. Fortunately he was merciful enough to prevent his angel from destroying Jerusalem as he felt they had learned their lesson.
xxiv.16: Just when he was going to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord repented. If God has to repent of evil, what's the big deal about us?
xxiv.24: To build his altar, David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver from Araunah. In 1Ch.xxi.22-25 he paid Ornan 600 shekels of gold for the floor alone which is quite a difference.
