He helped to bring down the American tradition of isolationism and federal practice of laissez-faire. Teddy Roosevelt is renowned in the history books as the "trustbuster," while he, in fact, broke fewer trusts than William Taft. He did "bust" many huge and powerful trusts such as Standard Oil, Northern Securities Company and the American Tobacco Company.
Theodore Roosevelt was indeed a great American President. His distinguished presidency set the role for the modern presidency.
