In Korea, the fight against communism was one of the fiercest because only after 6 years WWII, the three years of the Korean War had begun. Previously Japanese occupied Korea at the end of the Russo-Japanese War but after WWII, Korea was taken away and divided into 3 zones. Similar to Germany, the Western Allies take the territory below the 38th parallel of Southern Korea and Russia, the north. However communication breaks down between the north and south and so in 1947, the Republic of Korea was formed in S. Korea and U.S. troops were withdrawn. Then on June 25, 1950, a surprise attack of 70,000 N. Korean soldiers attacked S Korea and captured Seoul, the capital of S. Korea. Truman ordered MacArthur to send troops to S. Korea to stop the spread of communism but the troops were ill prepared and thus communist made advances quickly. When the United Nations met, Russia had boycotted the Security Council because NATO did not recognize the Chinese communists and thus without Russia's veto, the U.N. voted that N. Koreans were the aggressors and support would be sent to the South. …
