One of the most interesting and plot provoking characters if Fiona, Marcus's mother. She attempts suicide, and ultimately brings Marcus and Will together. Her lack of acknowledgment of Marcus's problems at school drives him in Will for help. The turmoil she creates brings Marcus and Will together, improving everyone's lives.
<Tab/>Life is full of drama from day to day. While "About a Boy" is an extreme example of drama, it still illustrates what makes a good drama. A good drama must have cinematography that enhances the feeling and presence of the drama done through the camera angels and music. Also it must have a plot that has been carefully lied out, and then raised to a climax once the audience is hooked into the last aspect of a good drama, characters. Characters reveal the drama through their actions. "About a Boy" has all of these aspects and presents them in a touching story of a man and boy connecting on a level that no one else can see or understand. The relationship strengthens the entire movie with pain, happiness, hope, want, and drama.
