Eating is one of most cultural issues of each country. Eating habits contains not only national dishes, special products and special way of making them, but although a lot of other thing which make these habits an important part of culture. Eating habits include all three main elements of culture - products of culture (like recipes, special dishes, traditional celebration dishes and folklore related to food); behaviours (like attitude to food, behaviour at the table, behaviour in public places); and ideas (like food’s evaluation, appreciation of food etc).
Eating habits is part of cultural iceberg. Smallest part (like national kitchen) is on visible part of this iceberg; biggest part (history, behaviours, and attitude connected with food) is on invisible side of an iceberg.
Eating habits are deeply cultural thing. None is born with right attitude to food – everything people know about everything towards food is learned and deeply connected with particular group. Only common thing to all humanity is necessity to eat. All other aspects are more or less cultural.…
