Ja elipses centrs sakrīt ar koordināšu sistēmas sākumpunktu, tad fokusa attālums no centra – c= a2-b2, kur a un b ir lielā un mazā pusass.
Ja fokusa koordinātas F1=(x1,y1) un F2=(x2,y2), tad Dekarta koordināšu sistēmā elipses vienādojums ir:
(x-x1)2+(y-y1)2+(x-x2)2+(y-y2)2=2a

(x-xc)2/rx2+(y-yc)2/ry2=1, kur rx=a, bet ry=b

No šiem vienādojumiem izriet, ka jebkurai vērtībai x var noteikt vērtību y. Bet šajā gadījumā ir nepieciešams katrai vērtībai x noteikt, kāds pikselis būs tuvāks līnijai.
