Model: heart hear and think sink
Aspect: ea pronounced as [a:] and th pronounced as [s] (individual sounds)
Aim: To help students learn the pronunciation of the phonemes [a:] and [iə]; [ð] and [s].
Intelligences addressed: musical, bodily-kinaesthetic, linguistic
Solution:
To help students hear the difference I could explain that I am going to say a word with the [a:] sound several times then change to a word with the [iə] sound. The students should raise/clap their hands when they hear the word change. I then say “heart, heart, hear, heart, heart, hear…”. After that I would change the procedure with words think and sink.
