6. The House of the Blackheads
A building situated in the old town of
Riga, Latvia. The original building was
erected during the first third of the 14th
century for the Brotherhood of
Blackheads, a guild for unmarried
merchants, shipowners, and foreigners
in Riga. Major works were done in the
early 17th century, adding most of the
Mannerist ornamentation. The
sculptures were made by the workshop
of August Volz.

7. 11 November Embankment
From the first years of Riga's
existence, the banks of the Daugava
were used as a pier.
In the 13th century, the Riga Castle
was erected on the shore.
At the end of the 19th - beginning of
the 20th centuries, the embankment
was built up with residential buildings
according to the designs of the
leading Riga architects of that time.…
