Kudler's main business requirement is providing excellent customer service while having the ability to use dynamic and ad hoc reporting to track customer accounts, transactions and orders simultaneously. Additionally, we are assuming that the customer data and orders in Kudler's current database application can be converted using SQL stored procedures. This will benefit Kudler by saving costs of contracting temporary data entry clerks to re-enter existing data into the new database application.
Kudler's database application lacked normalization. The database contained redundancy of the attributes found in several entities. We are focusing our attention on the Customer, Order and the Order Line tables. E2LA created an ERD to review with Kudler and receive final approval to move forward with the database schema and then on to the database development using SQL Server 2000.
