Extract

Lexicology deals with lexical side of the word, first of all its lexical meaning, that is connection between sound complex and object, phenomena, process, quality, etc. it denotes. Besides, lexicology examines origin and usage of the word.
But if the word is a complex of sounds, why we understand one complex of sounds and don’t understand the other? For example, song is a word and seng is not. The second group of the sounds doesn’t have a signification, a meaning.
The meaning of the word is its correlation, connection with concrete phenomena of reality.
