Aborts ir dabīga vai mākslīga grūtniecības pārtraukšana līdz grūtniecības 22. nedēļai, kuras rezultātā auglis iet bojā.
Par spontānu abortu sauc augļa zaudēšanu līdz grūtniecības 24. nedēļai.  Pirmā grūtniecība gandrīz trešdaļai sieviešu beidzas ar spontāno abortu.
