The problems associated with water pollution have the capabilities to disrupt life on our planet to a great extent. The government has passed laws to try to combat water pollution, but the government alone can’t solve the entire problem. It is mainly up to us- people living in the environment, to be informed, responsible and involved when it comes to the problems we face with our water.

There are three forms of water pollution:
petroleum (large-scale accidental discharges of petroleum are an important cause of pollution along shore lines),
radioactive substances are produced in the form of waste from nuclear power plants, and from the industrial, medical, and scientific use of radioactive materials,
heat (it is a pollutant because increased temperatures result in the death of many aquatic organisms).
