Every language has a basic structure. This is composed of its grammatical features that are the working part of the language. It also consists of more versatile features as vocabulary that changes and develops according to culture and social phenomena. Language structures have specific properties that make them more or less difficult for language learner. That is why the content of a sentence must be organised according to some logical premise. As English heavily relies on grammatical rules and syntax (word order) information has a structure to depend on, thus the content is jointed, comprehensible and has grammatical coherence in the links between parts of a sentence.
The enabling objectives of this term paper are:
to read and analyse the theory available on the information structure and word order in the English language;
to investigate and analyse the data on information structure and word order in English;
to compare word order in different sentence types;
to prepare a set of exercises for training the use of correct word order;
to draw relevant conclusions.
Hypothesis:
The basic Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) word order in the English language can be altered and there are frequent deviations of information structure and word order in varied types of sentences.
