Business Meetings Etiquette
Conversation
Apology for not knowing french is developing a relationship.
Appointments should be made at least 2 weeks in advance.
Knowledge about French history, politics and other aspects of the culture will be an advantage.
Avoid making personal inquiries in the course of a conversation, especially during first introductions.
Wait to be told where to sit.
Meetings are to discuss issues, not to make decisions.
Trust is earned through proper behaviour !!
Don’t get offended if French people cut you off when you speak.

Business Time
Business hours: from 8:30 or 9:00 a.m.
To 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. (11:00-3:30!)
Business meetings:
It’s alright to arrive 10 minutes
after the scheduled time (not later).
Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
French staying late at the office (!)
The French will never skip lunch. In Paris, lunch in restaurants really begins at 1:00 p.m. Allow at least 45 minutes at the company cafeteria, 90 minutes at a restaurant.
No meetings during July or August- common vacation period, or in Christmas and Easter time for business trips.
