Network Performance
Another task of a network administrator is to monitor the network's performance. This is necessary to prevent overloading of the network, i.e. the administrator can see how much disk space and memory etc. each user is taking, he can see whether or not new hardware is needed, or sometimes he can check if any of the users are being naughty. Monitoring the network performance is usually done using a piece of proprietary software from companies such as Statscout, and can usually be done remotely from the administrator's own PC.
New Purchase Recommendations/ Budget
A network administrator would probably not have control over his budget and so if he felt that a new purchase was required in order to maintain or upgrade a network then he would probably need to recommend the purchase to whoever is in charge of the money.
There are several ways I could go about this recommendation according to whatever the particular in house purchase procedures are. However a logical way would be to present a report detailing the reasons behind the request (for example, replacements for damaged parts, or a newer software version), how much it would cost and what its value is to the organisation.
