Clueless, which carries much of the same ideas as Emma, has been classified as a ?teen pic?, thus its audience are teenagers or the youth.
This transformation of Emma has targeted a new audience and therefore created a new reading to the traditional text.
Through Amy Heckerling?s transformation of Emma, not only is a new text provided (Clueless), but also a new reading is provided for the original text, Emma. Viewing Clueless provides a new reading for Emma, as it brings the piece of literature down off a pedestal.
Emma is classed as literature where as the modern day transformation is classed as a ?teen pic?. Clueless clearly debunks the myth of high literature, which invites a new audience who bring new meaning to the text.
