Single-parenthood gave me the value of independence and afforded me the opportunity to pass on to my son the importance of individual freedom. While our home was not a two-parent home, family values of love and respect for one another and others were always present. The myth that children who grow-up in a single-parent household are likely to struggle in school, get into trouble with the law and develop serious social problems is just that, a myth. With love, communication and other good parenting skills, a single parent child can become a self reliant, happy, successful, well-adjusted individual.…
