Given that the issue of immigration reform affects me on both a personal and professional level, I have first-handedly witnessed the fear that has been created as a result of the aforementioned political pressure/interest. I say goodbye to my husband every morning as if it were the last time I am going to see him, I am cautious about going to certain stores for fear of raids, I am hesitant to speak Spanish in crowds in which I am the minority, I am mistrusting of individuals who inquire about my personal life, I wonder if the clients I work with are going to be at their next appointment, I believe that racial profiling exists, and I fear the values, opinions, and stereotypes created by individuals who are misinformed about the true issues surrounding the immigration debate and more importantly, what the consequences might be as a result of their ignorance.…
