Captain corelli's mandolin is an excellent book about love and war, it is full with lyrical descriptions of love and dreadful descriptions of war.
The story takes place on the Greek island of Cephallonia At the centre of the story is Pelagia, an educated and strong-willed woman, who falls in love with a local fisherman Mandras, and they become engaged. Iannis, a village doctor, is her father. But as it is time of the Second World War, Mandras goes to fight in Albania, while Cephallonia is occupied by the Italians and the Germans. Iannis gives accommodation to Captain Antonio Corelli ,an officer with an jovial personality and passion for the mandolin. …
