Most importantly – author of the text, Virginia Bonomo – gives some really good strategies how to successfully encourage both genders in classroom. For boys : teacher have to use a variety of manipulatives, because boys tend to get bored and uninterested more easily than girls; teacher should keep an eye on boys, but not interrupt them whenever they are doing something to get other attention, because if no one will look at them, they will slowly calm down; boys want to be challenged, teacher have to involve them in some discussions and competitions. For girls : teacher should know, that girls work better when they are facing each other, there have to activities, which would learn kind of helplessness, girls have to learn to take some risks; girls prefer a lot of colors, they will focus on what is written on the chalkboard; girls most likely prefer soft voices, they will not respond very well to loud, sharp, short tones, they like turning everything into emotions.
In conclusion the author underlines that as we can see there is many differences in how boys and girls learn. …
