I will provide no extended argument for this third proposal, only my conviction that there is inherent dignity in work; that there is no work which is demeaning to a person, only attitudes which are demeaning; and that all persons who are willing to work and participate in our America should be certain of earning enough money to support themselves and their families. Life is tough enough without the worry that one could be working in vain to take care of one's family.
I believe we can radically reduce or eliminate poverty in the United States. I have outlined three proposals for doing so which I believe are relatively painless to implement and morally worthy of attempting. Remaking our idea of tax by beginning a national sales tax, supporting Americans by closing our borders until we can take care of all Americans, and restoring dignity to the American worker by providing him with a living wage, will assure the strength of America and provide an example to the rest of the world how compassionate capitalism does work.
