Blood test- in this test blood is drawn to check the hCG levels ( human chorionic gonadotrophin ) if you are pregnant they should be increasing at a very fast rate thousands a day. the next day they would draw blood again and check it against the blood previously drawn if the levels are decreasing you have had a miscarriage, if they are increasing you have not had a miscarriage.
Ultra sound- in this test if you are more than 12 weeks the technician will look for a heartbeat if you are less than 12 weeks the technician will check to see if the amniotic sac is intact.
