Terminology
1.“Big killer languages” – they are English, German, Russian, French. Speakers of other languages in contact situations have a tendency for language shift because of greater value of these languages;
2.Bilingual - a situation in the country, where 2 languages are equally important. They both can be stated by a Law as official languages;
3.Ethno-linguistic group – a part of society in one country with culture, traditions and language of their own;
4.Foreign language – language, what is not spoken in the country. People learn it in schools, universities and special courses;
5.Language attitude – the way to understand how many people of different ethno-linguistic groups use and respect state language;
6.Language establishment – written language and alphabet establishment;
7.Language hierarchy – a group of languages which are spoken in the country. Allocation them is by an importance;
8.Language Law – political program to take care about language and researching of it;
9.Language maintenance – ability of community to use its language in the most significant sociolinguistic functions;…
