The theme of my project is ‘The English language’. To my mind, the theme is very interesting because I would like to know the origin of the English language, which I study. In addition, I am concerned with the development of English and its future. There are the following sections in my project: Vocabulary, Spelling, and Development of the language.
The aim of my project is to summarize my knowledge of English; to reveal the development of this language and the reason of its contemporary state. Besides, to point out the division of English: American English, British English and Pidgin English.
The task of my project is to get to know about the periods of the development of English from the old times to nowadays; moreover, the task is to clear up the difference between the divisions of the English language.
As a result I suppose to summarize all the material and get to know whether the English language has the future.

English belongs to the Anglo-Frisian group within the western branch of the Germanic languages, a sub-family of the Indo-European languages.

The most nearly complete dictionary of the language, the Oxford English Dictionary, a revised edition of A New English Dictionary on Historical Principles, contains 500,000 words. It has been estimated; however, that the present English vocabulary consists of more than 1 million words, including slang and dialect expressions and scientific and technical terms, many of which only came into use after the middle of the 20th century. The English vocabulary is more extensive than that of any other language in the world although some other languages—Chinese, for example—have a word-building capacity equal to that of English.…
