The picture of Dorian gray takes place in London around the 1890's. There are three main places that are involved with the setting, Dorian's home, Basil's home/studio and Lord Henry's home. I believe that the setting isn't extremely important towards the plot of the story. It just adds to certain details and opinions that the characters have.
