J.D. Salinger was most well known for his novel, “Catcher In The Rye”.
Catcher in the Rye was published on July 16, 1951.
His novel spent 30 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

Salinger was quoted during an interview with a high school newspaper saying that “Catcher In The Rye” was “sort of” an autobiography.
“My boyhood was very much the same as that of the boy in the book… It was a great relief telling people about it.”
