KAS IR TELESKOPI?
Ar teleskopu iegūst tālu priekšmetu palielinātus attēlus. Astronomiskie teleskopi uztver gaismu un citu veidu elektromagnētisko starojumu no kosmosa.
TELESKOPU VĒSTURE
Pirmo teleskopu 1608. gadā izgatavoja holandiešu instrumentu meistars Hanss Liperšejs (1570 - 1619).
1609. gadā itāļu fiziķis un astronoms Glileo Galilejs (1564 – 1642) kļuva par pirmo cilvēku, kurš izmantoja optisko teleskopu debess pētīšanai.
1668. gadā Īzaks Ņūtons uzbūvēja pirmo reflektoru.

Laurencs Kasegrēns 1672. gadā uzbūvēja Kasegrēna teleskopu.
Kopš 1990. gada kosmosā sekmīgi darbojas Habla kosmiskais teleskops (Hubble Space Telescope, HST), kas pēta zvaigžņu un galaktiku izstaroto gaismu, infrasarkano un ultravioleto starojumu.
Komptona gamma starojuma observatorija tika palaista 1991. gadā.
