The Lexical Approach is one of the foreign language teaching methods of the 20th century.
The theme of the present course report is “The Lexical Approach and Its Implementation in the Classroom”. This course report investigates the basic principles and most common classroom activities and materials that are used in the Lexical Approach. It also includes a lesson plan based on the Lexical Approach and provides background information about the approach.
The aim of the present course report is to discuss the principles and various activities of the Lexical Approach, and to provide a lesson plan that is based on this particular foreign language teaching method.
The enabling objectives
To attain the above mentioned aim the following tasks were set:
1)To study the available material on the topic and to carry out the analysis of the principles, classroom activities and materials used in the Lexical Approach;
2)To search information for identifying the types of techniques of the Lexical Approach;
3)To draw relevant conclusions.
The hypothesis
The Lexical Approach is a foreign language teaching method that is aimed at developing a foreign language learner awareness of lexical items in order to improve their fluency.
Methods of research
The research methods employed in the paper are theoretical. The theoretical methods include the review of the theoretical material on the Lexical Approach, the views of different scholars and drawing relevant conclusions. …
