Reccomendations
According to Lorie Belker and Gary Topchik, team spirit is one of the most essential principles of the performance and success of the group (Belker,L.,B.,Topchik,G.,S.,2005). Below recommended strategies can help to promote team spirit and empower team members. Firstly it would be recommended to know each other better. Instead of emailing, team members can meet or have a meal together and talk face-to-face. Secondly, each member needs to feel as a valued part of the team working for a common goal rather than competing with each other. Thirdly, it is suggested that all team members are friendly, care about each other. It will demonstrate that everybody is willing to listen and support the team. Thirdly, to build a team spirit it is important to feel like a team. This can be done through different types of exercises, for example ‘’ice breakers’’. Important way how to increase team spirit and empower team members is motivation. If there is no leader in the group than members can appreciate and encourage each other. It is recommended to avoid of disagreements and miscommunication as this can lead to negative emotions. Team members need to celebrate the success of their work. It needs to be done in the way that everyone is happy about it. These recommendations will help not only to build a team spirit but also to increase the quality and productivity of team’s work.
