Many people with a different cultural background take early music education for granted. They educate their children in this spirit, because they assume that this nurture has a good effect on the cognitive development of their children. Personal attributes for example intelligence, social behaviour like perseverance, capacity, sympathy, communication and sense of responsibility are meant to develop positive.
In our lab-group nearly all students grew up with exactly this belief of their parents. Because we grew up in this way of nurture, we assume that early music education has a positive influence on the learning attitude and the social competence in the whole life. After taking everything into account and conversations in our group, we realized that nobody of us knew something about the scientific background of early music education. Consequently we wanted to find out more about the questions where the general assumption of the early music education comes from and if there are studies which prove our beliefs.…
