Actually there is still a lack of understanding what actually motivates humans to visit sites of dark tourism and to engage themselves with the topics of death, disaster and genocide. Mostly tourists are going to visit dark sites because of historical motivations, curiosity and novelty seeking, nostalgia, educational motives, remembrance, and influence of media.
To sum up, disaster tourism takes you right to the heart of disaster - to see beyond the writings and pictures in the history books, beyond the tales in the media, to the actuality of the circumstance. Our planet has been suffering from disasters through millenniums from death of dinosaurs, eruption of Pompeii till global warming today. Disaster tourism offer unique experience for those who have exhausted from normal package holiday, it offers a chance to learn something new about history, memorize tragedies of a past and simply enjoy the heritage what we still have, that is the reasons why disaster tourism becomes more and more popular.
