SAFETY AND GEAR
There are many stereotypes of this culture. A lot of people think that motocross racers are a bunch of metal head stoners and are crazy careless people who like to put their lives at risk. People think that motocross racers are unsafe and don't think about the harm that they could do to themselves. When in fact motocross racing is a very family oriented sport. Men, women and even children do motocross racing and safety is of the up most importance. The racers always have their protective gear on while racing. They have their helmet and goggles to protect their head and eyes. On their upper body they wear a chest protector to protect them from flying rocks or speeding dirt clumps, and on their lower body they wear boots that come almost all the way up to their knees to protect their chins and ankles and they also wear padded jerseys and pants. I have learned that on the surface it looks like it's a crazy sport. But it's really not, and the racers take high measures to make sure they are safe. …
